Hi everyone happy Friday!! Most of you know we were on a Disney Cruise a few weeks ago and I wanted to share our experience as well as answer a bunch of questions I got from many of you.
First of all this was my first Disney experience ever! I had never been to Disney World before as a child or adult. Experiencing Disney through the eyes of my two year old daughter was by far one of the greatest moments in my life. The pure innocence and excitement she had when meeting any princess or character would bring tears to my eyes. I now understand the “magic” that so many people talk about when they talk about Disney.
We got in to Florida a day before the cruise left and spent it at Magic Kingdom. Chloe made a beeline for the castle and of course I was just as excited 😉 We rented one of their strollers which was super easy and fit in as much as we could in that one day. Chloe and Dane went on the Dumbo ride (it was Chloe’s favorite) and we met Belle, Ariel, Cinderella and Elena. Needless to say Chloe was in heaven.
The next morning there was a bus that took us to Port Canaveral to leave on the Disney Dream for four nights. It was so convenient! To be honest I was very nervous for the cruise because I’ve been on a few other cruise lines and have had motion sickness every time. I was completely shocked that during the entire cruise I never felt a thing. Honestly, if I didn’t actually see the water, I never would have thought we were moving.
We were lucky enough to be on the cruise for Halloween on the High Seas. Chloe and I were both supposed to be Minnie Mouse but her costume was itching her and she wasn’t having it. So she was Belle instead!
If you’re looking for the most comfortable thing you could ever wear, I lived in this jumpsuit on the cruise!!
Below is Chloe just living the dream at Vanellope’s Candy Shop on the ship…
On the ship they have a splash park area called “Nemo’s Reef” and it was Chloe’s favorite part (besides the ice cream).
Q: Did you use the child care services and what were your feelings about it?
A: We didn’t because Chloe wasn’t a fan of us leaving her, I think she’s still too young. She loved the kids clubs but only when we were there with her lol. There were a few other girls on the cruise that I knew who had 4-5 year olds and they loved staying in the kids clubs.
Q: Is everyone “Disney-ed” out on the ship like they are in the parks? Trying to outfit plan!
A: Yes and no. Some people go all out especially on pirate night! But during the day just stay comfortable in a bathing suit and coverup/dress.
Q: What is the best age to do this?
A: Every age! Although I’m partial to 2-3 year olds because that’s all I know. That’s such an innocent age and watching them experience everything for the first time melted my heart. But they have kids clubs for every age group including a club for teenagers! There is plenty to do for everyone.
Q: Where did Chloe sleep?
A: We had a couch in our room that they converted into a bed and put rails on the side for Chloe. The room even had a curtain that would separate Chloe’s “bed” and our side of the room. It was great!
Q: Did Characters come to every meal?
A: There were character appearances every half hour during the day. We didn’t see any characters at dinner but there was always something fun going on especially in the animators’ palate!
Q: Would you recommend a balcony room?
A: YES! Especially if you are worried about motion sickness. Below is a picture taken on our balcony.
Q: How was the price compared to going to Disney?
A: When you factor in all the food and entertainment provided it’s SO worth it. Especially with how convenient everything is. Disney can be overwhelming and the cruise simplifies everything!
Q: Did you see older kids on the cruise? Teenagers?
A: Yes there was a fair amount teenagers.
Q: What special events did you do with Chloe?
A: We did a meet and greet with all the princesses and a meet and greet with Anna and Elsa (pictured below). Probably the best day of Chloe’s life 😉 Elsa showed Chloe how to pose and hold her hair, Chloe held her hair like that for 20 mins after the picture!!
Q: What were the rules on kids in the pool who aren’t potty trained?
A: Only children who are potty trained are allowed in the pools. Children who wear diapers can play in the Nemo splash park (which was Chloe’s favorite).
Q: Do we need a stroller?
A: No, we didn’t bring one and never had a need for one. They do have some at Castaway Cay you can use if you need.
Q: What activities did you do in Castaway Cay? Looks like there is so much to do.
A: There is so much to do and everything is SO convenient! Castaway Cay was my favorite part of the trip. We got off the ship first thing in the morning and took the trolley they provide to the family beach. We spent the day there, I definitely recommend renting a float. Chloe had the best time swimming on “Mickey’s Island” and they offer lunch at Cookys BBQ.
Other activities you can do are snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing, fishing, bicycle rental.. the list is really endless.
Q: Is it fun even if you don’t have kids?
A: Yes there were PLENTY of people there without kids. There is a whole district of bars/nightclubs/lounges including a champagne bar “bubbles”. I really wish I could have had some champagne 😉
There is also a whole separate part of the ship for adults only and a separate beach on Castaway Cay!
Q; Tell me about transportation to and from airport.
A: There is a transfer that you can book to and from the airport for a fee.
Please feel free to ask anything else that I may have missed! I hope this helps anyone going on a Disney Cruise and if you’ve never been on one, I highly recommend it!

Beautiful pictures! This is something I am interested in doing next summer with my family. How did you go about planning and booking the trip? Did you use a travel agent?
